Melava Malka 5774: Report
What Was It All About? Tes Kislev 5774
Yagdil Torah's 3rd Annual Melave Malka Dinner took place this past Motzei Shabbos in Oholei Torah. What was it like? What are the highlights?
In all honesty, it's nearly impossible to sum up the event in a few words, because it was so many different things all at once. It was:
Dayan Raskin and others gave encouragement, tips and motivation for increasing in Limmud Torah in our daily lives. Many people came away with new insights and commitment ideas.
- A show of identifying with and support for Yagdil Torah.
Whether people came to support Yagdil Torah, or out of respect or admiration for our estimable honorees, the hall was packed. When the evening was over, people felt differently in their outlooks, specifically when pertaining to Yagdil Torah. After witnessing the effects on our community, it was impossible to remain unchanged.
- A moment of learning about the inner workings of Yagdil Torah.
Many know the overall purpose of Yagdil Torah is to "promote Limmud HaTorah"-but what does this mean? How do we go about it? Those who came to the dinner gained a deeper understanding of what goes on behind the scenes, and how much is accomplished every single day.
- A way of showing appreciation to the honorees and what they have done for the community.
Each of our honorees has a specific role in this community, and many who attended the dinner did so for them. Those who joined in the evening in their honor, whether through attending or submitting ads, added an extra element in appreciation for what these men do.
- Accompanied by a very satisfying menu served by Exquisite Catering, Streimel-style comedy by famed Badchan Yankel Miller, and extraordinary music by Yossi Cohen and Yehuda Piamenta. It was definitely not a night to be missed.
Our honorees, Dr. Robert Feldman, Mr. Oren Popper and Rabbi Gershon Sellinger, stressed how happy they were with the work of Yagdil Torah and urged dinner attendees to tap into its many learning outlets.
Those who were unable to attend can still be part of Yagdil Torah's work. Donating to our organization ensures its continuation and expansion. Donate today to be a part of it all and make a difference in Limmud Torah.
